Appearance: Unlike the yellow chicks of the Light Sussex variety, pure Lavender Sussex chicks are entirely silver-grey from day one. They feature pinkish-white legs and beaks.
Temperament: Even as week-old babies, they are notably calm, curious, and less flighty than light-breed chicks. They tame easily with hand-feeding.
Growth Rate: They are a heavy heritage breed. They grow sturdy frames relatively fast and feather out into a gorgeous, solid slate-lavender plumage.
